In 1976, Vans Style 95 now known as the Era, was launched. The shoe was originally designed with Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta and was the first shoe designed specifically for skateboarding. With its padded collar, reinforced heel and heavyweight canvas, the Era put skate functionality and durability over all else and essentially set the modern skate footwear industry in motion.
